    Per Kyle Merber:

    Ce’Aira Brown has announced her retirement from professional running. While running for the New Jersey - New York Track Club, the former Hampton All-American ran 1:58.01 and qualified for the 2019 World Championship 800m final. Ce may have been the most competitive teammate I’ve ever had – she wouldn’t even let me win a stride!

    Brown, improved a lot post-college. At Hampton, her pb was 202.82 and she never made the finals at NCAA outdoors. As a pro, she was in the 2019 WC final.

    not a surprise at all. I think anyone who follows her on Instagram would've already known she's not been exercising - no running photos & recent posts of her look quite 'different' to how I remember her looking

    also her last two races were Feb 2021 (2:02.15) & Apr 2021 (2:04.50), nothing since.

    She last went sub2:00 in 2018 and in 2020 DNF'd 4/8 races. This is not much of a loss to the sport (persona wise) or national team (performance wise)

    With her WC finals and 2x2x400 gold, she represented the USA well. Congrats on a great career, Ms. Brown!

    As someone who got to watch her high school career up close, this is both sad and cool. She came from a historically strong high school program in Philadelphia that has been down for some time. She has always had time to go back and talk to the program and has been encouraging for any and all who approached her. The fact that she did so well in college and then earned a Diamond League victory, a WC Final, and a World Relays Gold, is testament to a solid worker and a good role model for those who have followed her.

    The Philly + New Jersey area sure has been pumping out top female talent in the 400-800 meter range lately.
