I do believe if Jakob runs under 7:20 indoors that Coevett would have a heart attack. Let us hope this does not happen. The odds of it happening are .00055%.
Going under 7:20.67 indoors is too big of an IF to entertain.
I have to agree, hitting 7:24 is already a pretty tall ask, going sub 7:20.7 indoors is just crazy talk. Haven't we heard for years that some think the 7:24i is better than the 7:20, or at least in the same ball park.
If he manages to run under 7:20:67, do you think he should immediately changes his focus from 1500 to the 5000m for the year 2023 ?
It´s VERY unlikely that he will even try to break 7:20 in Madrid.
But I suppose he will go for the indoor WR especially if his 1500m race in Lievin the week before is going well. To improve his 3:30.60 WR in the 1500m he has to run al least close to 56 per lap. If he manages to do that in Lievin it seems to be realistic to run close to 59 per lap on the double distance in Madrid

You don’t understand how difficult it is to break Komen. Unlikely that man has been born yet.
This is an exaggeration. Wale got within .1 of his record indoors in January and didn't even count the laps correctly. We have seen a slew of times between 7:24-7:26 over the last few years, largely indoors. Its only a matter of time before someone of Jakob or Kiplimo's caliber takes a real stab at it with pacing lights outdoors and gets close.
There were hardly any fast 3,000s after Komen. Now that the 3,000 is a staple on the DL + pacing lights, someone will get close to the record. Thierry Ndikumwenayo is running the same 3K times as Bekele/Haile, the game has changed.
