Biggest choke/ disappointment in 2022?

Not chokes but Hocker and Teare were disappointing to some. Galen Rupp even to some was disappointing. Some even were disappointed by Gidey’s marathon which I did not understand. Brazier was disappointing to some. Devon Allen DQ left some disappointed in the officials. Many were disappointed by their experience in Eugene.

Fisher getting tripped in the 5k has to be it for me. It's the only time I've been watching a race and yelled "NO!" From his 12:53 in February to the DL Final in September, he had an almost perfect season. He was super close to a 10k medal, but it wasn't really disappointing because he still had the 5k. He positioned himself perfectly, he was ready to kick, he looked like he was finally about to get a medal, and it all got (t)ripped away in an instant.

I understand that it’s good to be honest about performances and hold ppl accountable but really, an end-of-year award for biggest choke?!

By far my biggest disappointment of the year: stars (particularly American ones) ducking competition.

Coleman and Holloway using their wildcard entries to dodge some fascinating races at US Champs. Mu shutting it down post Eugene, McLaughlin pulling out of races last moment/dipping Monaco to run in Hungary then shutting it down.

Rai Benjamin shutting it down after Eugene. Man has done 5 Diamond League 400m hurdles in the last 5 years. I get the DL can be hard to fit with an American schedule but of those 5, 2 were in Doha and one was in Shanghai - the two most inconvenient Diamond Leagues to hit (and ones that offer the biggest appearance fees).

McLaughlin, Mu, Benjamin, - they're all fascinating and talented athletes who I'd love to see more.

I'd add as a specific disappointment- men's 110m hurdles final. All year I wanted Holloway v Parchment v Cunningham v Allen. To lose both Parchment and Allen sucked.

I was disappointed Lamont Marcell Jacobs got injured and wasn’t at 100% for the world championships. I was looking forward to seeing him get smoked by Fred Kerley and the other Americans in the 100-meter final.

Not sure we can find a bigger choke in athletics to rival the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts who led 33-0 with 8 minutes left in the 3rd qtr and somehow, some way managed to lose.

I'm sorry if Brazier disappointed anyone. I guess a heal injury that requires surgery can do this.

If you were smarter you would know that injuries are disappointing. Hocker was injured, so was Teare and Centro. Maybe educate yourself on what the word disappointing means.

I think a lot of willful ignorance would be required to see shacarris season as a disappointment. I think things turned out better for her than I thought they would have.

I was speaking for the general fan who wanted to see him perform. I am not disappointed by any of their injuries in the sense that it does not impact my quality of life for sure but some fans seem to get disappointed by an athlete’s injuries. So let us say you are a Saints fan (as you are) in their SB win year and Brees gets hurt before the big game and they lose. His injury could have been a disappointment to a Saints fan.
