I really like the springy midsole of the hyperion tempos that seems tuned for my weight, and the brooks catamount is the only other shoe they make that is entirely the same DNA Flash midsole material. It's kind of the trail version of the tempos, but is definitely a road to trail shoe so you might try it - I use mine on the road more than trail. I prefer a wide toe box, and the tempos work "okay" for me because the upper is stretchy even if the shoe is not wide. The catamount, on the other hand, has a stiffer upper and midsole but is slightly wider, and overall is a better fit for me. Try on the catamount before buying, as there are lots of fans but some people don't like them.
The new Catamount 2 available soon seems closer to the tempos, along with being more narrow like the tempos.
