SEATTLE, Wash. — A man is in critical condition after being stabbed while out for a jog in Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood Tuesday.
Seattle police said a man called 911 at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday and said he had been stabbed. The incident happened on the South Ship Canal Trail near the intersection of 3rd Avenue North and Etruria Street in North Queen Anne.
Imagine if he was out for a run instead...

This was in the middle of the day in a popular spot for walking & running in what is supposed to be a nice area. No arrests will be made, and no one will change their behavior because no one is surprised when this kind of stuff happens.
Wow. I know that spot well. It's a little spur of a ramp down to the trail, and the trail is a favorite of runners and pedestrians. Bummer that the runner didn't see the assailant.

Let's review our choices: Washington is one of nine U.S. states with no state income tax, a very attractive feature for anyone who earns more than $75,000 per year. State of Washington believes no income tax is a method of recruitment. Does Washington want to be like Texas, another state with no income tax? Texas gouges their citizens with other taxes and fees. Greater Seattle may need to raise taxes to hire more law enforcement.
Neighborhoods in and near Seattle can pool their resources and hire private security firms.
Neighborhoods in and near Seattle can collectively cooperate and form vigilante groups. Best if unarmed.
Greater Seattle may continue and hope for the best with no policy changes.

Even if he sees him, sometimes they don't look like someone that's going to stab you.
Why would we need more stand your ground b.s.? There are enough firearms among the general populace that the NRA's decades-long claim that firearms prevent crime should come to fruition any day now.
Exactly. Are people supposed to walk around any public area guns out, safety off because someone might suddenly jump out at you? Violent crime is awful but we don't need millions of paranoids wandering around armed in a defensive posture.
