Any live stream?
For anyone who isn't familiar, these races are an absolute joke.
They tend to be determined by a mistake on the handicapper's part more often than not.
Not to mention, the sneaky motherf*ckers who sandbag all year, so that they can soften their handicap and pick up some cash and unearned glory.
Disappointing to see such high profile runners supporting this farce.
jk
bro they are both racing off scratch. We don't care who wins the race overall, we want to know who of Ollie and Stewy finishes first

Have seen a stream on Twitter. I will put it here soon
Olli beat Stewy easily. Slow time. Ollo looked like he was cruising.
Oli second behind a runner off 140 metres handicap. Stewie 4th
Link to replay . Mile starts at 5.18

“Easily”.
He beat him by 2 feet.

Slower runners tend to (1) make bigger improvements and (2) have higher variance in performances. This explains why slower runners tend to win these races more often (and also why last place also tends to be a slower runner as well). Maybe there is some gaming, but I think the above reasons are a bigger factor. If the handicaps are done correctly, everyone on average has an equal chance of winning. So it would be very rare for the best runner to win. That isn't the point of these races. Its just a fun casual event with some small cash on the line (often run on a horse racing track), it isn't the Aussie national champs. It's all in good fun. I'm glad Stewy and Olli don't take themselves too seriously. Fun to watch.

In case others are as dense as I am, it starts at 5:18:00
Fun race. We need more of this sort of thing.
Neither here nor there, but can you image Rupp doing something like this? Who in the US would take on a race like this?
He ran 12:56 5k and 3:30 1500m last year he’s back

Racing for the joy of competition and fun seems more rare these days with US pros. It’s all about times, being a hermit and showing up only when you are in peak shape. Props to Olli and Stewy who are probably in the middle of 90+ MPW base training right now racing a mile.
