Many years ago a training buddy collapsed and died 50 feet from the finish line at the Houston Marathon.
Terrible. Praying for his recovery.
Tragic story.

Scary sh@t, hope the guy recovers
Thank you for sharing. I was maybe 50 meters away in the beer garden when I saw the medics administering CPR, I know a lot of us who were there have been wondering what happened. Very sad and scary indeed, I'm just Grateful he lived - from where I was standing it did not look good.

He seemed to be executing the perfect race. So sad.
"Freak incident."
Sure is a lot of those any more.
I saw this cardiologist on the news talking about how he was behind two runners who suffered cardiac arrest. And how unbelievably odd that was. He mentioned myocarditis.. The WP story didn't mention myocarditis.
Yes because myocarditis didn’t exist before the vaccine. It must be amazing to know that no matter what facts are presented you’re always right. /s

Sure it might be, but it's generally diagnosed via Blood tests, ECG/EKG, MRI, XRay or biopsy.
Do you know if someone gave those tests to the patients on the course, or are you saying the Dr followed the patients to the hospital and witnessed the results of such tests?
Damn. I remember seeing someone who was about to be loaded into an ambulance as I ran by, but never heard anything more about it.
Before this turns into an anti-vax rant, he was diagnosed with acute onset rhabdomylosis, not myocarditis.
