100 MPW is about 12 hours total time. That's not much time for a hobby.
I wonder about the ironman hobbyists putting in 40 hours a week just to have a shot of making Kona. But whatever who cares. People don't even bat an eyelash at someone playing fortnight 40 hours a week.

The OP can't even grasp the concept of ''hobby''. Man, what a sad life would that be.
Many of us enjoy the process of running. Would you say the same thing about playing video games for 10-12 hours a week?
You could make that silly argument for anything: Many people enjoy the process of playing video games. Would you say the same thing about snorting crack for 10-12 hours a week?
Running more than 3-4 hours/week has little more benefit than playing video games.
Horse pucky. I have probably run more than I should have including 100 mile weeks in college. But I'm still enjoying the fitness at an advanced age while many of my contemporaries are chilling 6 ft under.
As others said, 100 MPW is about 2 hours or less of running per day. Personally that's not much, I'm post collegiate now and don't focus on the roads/track. But now I just enjoying being outside ie hiking, MTB, trail running, climbing and skiing. Now my total time spent doing such activities is easily double or more the time I spent training for track/XC(as far as hours per week training). Road/track runners total time spent training is super small compared to other hobbies.

You may be above ground but probably have horse pucky in your unscientific kuku noggin if you think 100mpw prolongs your life compared to much more modest cardio.
Dedicating that much time to running when you are earning no money from it indicates a high level of neurosis.
You're almost surely trolling here, but no matter, what an empty, joyless, life you must have if you'll only do something seriously if you're getting paid for it.
Prolonging of life isn’t everything. Running fitness translates super well to many activities.
Nobody except you is talking about prolonging life being everything.
“Running fitness translates super well to many activities.”: ha ha ha ha, what a silly mom and apple pie statement. Sounds like you don’t disagree with anything I actually said.

I don’t know about OP but I’ll consider doing something for many things other than money like health, fame, rewarding familial relationships, the environment, scientific advancement, world peace etc.
I suppose if I have extra time and nothing better to do, I might run more than 3 hours a week. Or play video games. (I do neither.)
