I think it's pretty clear it's km he's referring to. But he does repeatedly use the word "mileage" which could be a little confusing to the easily confused.

What do they say in the Commonwealth countries? Do they talk about weekly kilometerage?

I think they say "volume," which technically has nothing to do with time and very little to do with linear distance.

The best and most useful interview I have seen in 50 years as a huge fan of the sport. The kid has everything, and at core is confident because he has earned it.

The word mileage is commonly used by runners in metric countries to refer to running volume. No such word as kilometerage.

To be fair, 115-120 for a miler/5K is a bit of an outlier for base training, but no doubt Jakob is unique in being able to handle the load. He also emphasizes that most of it is pretty easy.
Jakob is a once in a lifetime generational talent who breathes and lives in a professional running family environment at a young age. I don't expect all high schoolers to run high mileage at all. And that's fine.

It's not an outlier actually. For miler/5k types, there are plenty of all-time greats running this type of mileage and higher. Daniel Komen, El G, Geb, Morcelli, Silas Kiplagat, Mo Farah, Ronald Kwemoi, Augustine Choge, Caleb Ndiku, Steve Ovett, Jim Ryun, Isaac Songok....etc
