Isn't Felix a woman who benefitted from Nike as long as she could and then jumped on the anti-Nike bandwagon when it was financially beneficial to do so. Repeat after me. Her Nike contract had expired when she got pregnant.

I'm confused. Are you taking the position that Felix doesn't deserve an award for her career in athletics? She has 22 medals over a 15-year period across various events.
The article you linked describes the award she recently won as: "The Muhammad Ali Legacy Award celebrates an individual whose dedication to the ideals of sportsmanship has spanned decades and whose career in athletics has impacted the world."
Are you taking the position that Felix hasn't earned that? If so, how.
As to your comment, Felix certainly benefitted from Nike under the terms of her initial contract. Then Nike decided to play hardball in negotiations which was morally questionable, at best. Nike got dragged through the coals in the ensuing aftermath from the negotiating tactics. It was a stunning and brave decision from Felix to go against the athletics monolith.
I’m willing to hear you out but you’ll have to make a cogent argument about why she does not deserve the award. Simply screaming “Ugh, woke!” will not suffice.

0/10. You can do better.
The article makes it quite clear that her contract had expired and covers the matter quite well as best I can tell.
Considering that Nike (from what I can tell) has changed its approach, seems like she and other female athletes have come out ahead.
They did not need to invent her. (Although "hero" used in athletics is problematic--they are not risking their lives or saving other lives). She won at the highest levels; represented the sport amazingly well; stood up for something that she believed in (at perhaps to a financial cost to herself); made contracts better for women likely across all sports.
I don't think AF is the hero that they make her out to be. Take a close look at how she screwed over Janeba Tarmoh at the Trials. Her motivations were never made clear, but that was a teammate she took advantage of.

What are you talking about? Felix had agreed to have a run-off with Tarmoh for that final spot, and Tarmoh backed out after it had already been planned.
Jeneba Tarmoh will not participate in the runoff vs. Allyson Felix for the third and final spot on the U.S. team for the 100 meter women's race at the 2012 London Games, her publicist Lila Brown said Monday.

She “took advantage” of? By agreeing to a fair run-off?

Awwwww…the tiny wittle baby snowflake is triggered… Boohoohoo 😭
Until now most of the press was "Allyson Felix was this pioneer fighting for women's rights and that is why she left Nike"
When in reality was her contract was up, then she got pregnant, and the article fills in the details how her pregnancy did affect the negotiations and impacted her decision to take up this cause.
Alysia Montano deserved more of the credit in my book for this issue.
Allyson throughout her career until this point stood for mainly one thing- excellence on the track. I'm glad she evolved to fighting for this issue. Becoming a mother, etc can change people and she has a huge platform. Glad SI took the time to explain the story which I had never seen done before. Most of the accounts you would read weren't accurate or more hagiography than anything else. Most things in life are a little more grey than black or white.
