You are way off. Leo and Lex took it easy during both of their qualification meets at Mt SAC. Their Mt SAC times may seem fast to you, but they are only a modest pace for Lex and Leo.
You clearly have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to Lex and Leo and how their season was managed.

Mt Sac is still a hard effort, even if not run at 100 percent. A race is a race, and there's mental energy/fatigue involved as well.
NXN was the 4th straight week racing a 5k. The prior week at State was run to exhaustion, and Leo couldn't surpass his time from the Clovis Invite.
More rest was clearly needed after State. The week of NXN, you don't need what's equal to two miles at faster than race pace. That's silly.
This is factually incorrect. State was the first of two 5ks run back-to-back.
Some of you guys must have never ran a race in your life, yet you post here.
They ran very "unintelligent" to be kind. Great runners who didn't respect the weather. Their little pull away speed moves bit them in the butt. In better weather, they'd have probably went 1-2, but not today.
Bringing Sean into this is ridiculous! They weren't burned out and they didn't train poorly, they just ran stupid arrogant style races today and they beat themselves. Accept it as that's what happened.
This post times 1000!!!!!!!!!!!! Agree 👍
Danke!!! A bunch of runners on this site, old and young, can never just state the obvious and let it go.
They ran very dumb races and anyone who watched it and doesn't agree clearly has never ran a race before. They got very, very cocky and felt like they were going 1-2 regardless of the conditions.
Burned out??? No way, they were too inflated upstairs to run smart races and be patient in those conditions and it gave them the results they deserved.
It seems they did similar schedules this year as last. also, I think all of their Clovis times were better than State. lastly, they ran in Alabama the same weekend as NXN this year.
I am Not sure how of any of us can explain why they run great or not so. possibly our only valid opinion is thyself.
One bad race. They must bo done. Never going to perform well again. Their coach is an absolute failure.
That’s a dumb statement. Many people have bad races. Nenow was only #4 on the Jesuit team. And they still got second. The Youngs had a bad race but NP still won

They’re only 17 years old and of course it will have no effect on their running future. It’s likely they’ve already moved on.
I dunno, once you start going the German Fernandez shuffle, I was sick/injured excuses, because you're too good/proud to lose otherwise, it is hard to get of that cycle, and you setup yourself up to DNF/35th/11th a race that if you couldn't have won, you could've done placed much better at least.
That they were sick was confirmed by Jonathan Gault. Otherwise, it didn't make sense that they would fade like that. They are experienced racers and were barely behind Colin Sahlman as juniors in race after race (even beating him once). Just think about the fact that Lex Young had already run 13:43 and that Leo was even better for much of this xc season. However, the way that Aaron Sahlman closed gave notice that the Youngs have to be well clear of him to beat him at this point, because he was extremely strong and now he should have the confidence to go with them. I hope he does run xc, because we'd get some fun battles between Nico (assuming he doesn't go pro), the Sahlmans and the Young twins for the next couple of years. NAU right now looks much stronger than it seemed for next year with Bosley running so well, Nico combining with him to score five points at xc nationals, Aaron committing and winning NXN in a course record, Santiago Prosser having an enormous breakthrough, Colin looking to improve on his 27th place finish at regionals over 10k, which I assume he will do by a lot at nationals next year, Hasty listed as a redshirt junior now, Quax, who won a xc meet this season and is listed as a redshirt junior as well, and then one among a number of other guys who could be there to score, such as Nyoak (some good results this year), or Puffer (8:46 in high school).

Is next year the last dance for NAU?
Bosley and Hasty will be on their last year of eligibility
