Where can you even find normal racing flats any more? I was a huge fan of the NB1400s for workouts but you can't find those anymore. I've been searching..
I'd run track workouts in old XC (non-super) spikes. When I'd put on my Dragonflies, they felt even better.
I'd also feel so much fresher and faster while racing. I ended up running 15:30 for a 5k (XC) which isn't great, but it'd be difficult for me to run 6x1k in 3:10 on the track - but that's in old spikes that don't boost.
"Racing in normal racing flats" is a little redundant
“Racing in normal racing flats.“
The first “racing,” describes the actual activity, the second “racing” describes the purpose for which the shoes were made. It’s not redundant - your understanding of English grammar sucks.
