Leo's last 500 at State

It was strange to see Leo fall off so much in the last 600. Perhaps he hit the wall and started thinking about preserving for next week. But I've never seen him have nothing zero left at the end of XC race, so it's quite puzzling.

It's because they aren't 100% focused this season. They're spending too much time on social media projects and other things.

That's why I think a dialed in Hunter Jones and maybe a couple others have a shot at them next weekend at NXN.

It's hard for me to believe that the amount of attention that the Young twins have been getting wouldn't go to any high schooler's head. They've pretty much been anointed as the kings of running for 2 or 3 years now.

Ok, let’s not exaggerate here. Leo is not the only one who did not run up to expectation at State.

For example, Bille Issa was 6th at Clovis in 15:04. He ran 16:13 at State

Leo went from 14:25 (Clovis) to 14:38 (State). Not good and not what you want to see immediately before NXN, but…

Lex made almost breaking GF’s course record look easy. even after he crossed the line. GF ran amazing but looked like (and probably was) going all out, and fell to the ground after breaking the tape. Just saying.

No. As soon as Leo realized he wasn't going to be able to break the course record he decided to slow down.

No way that Lex is more than 10 seconds faster than Leo if Leo is going all out.

We don't know the reason for Leo's finish. It could be one of a number of different things. One thing that wasn't mentioned is the possibility of his having some illness or being weakened by a recent bug. Maybe just a bad race. Thankfully for him and his team they have next week to run their best race.

Look at the video. He had nothing left after that last hill. You can see the difference between Leo and Lex.

When you're trying to run a time faster than anyone has ever run before then you need to take some risks. Sometimes those risks pay off and sometimes they don't. But it was worth a shot.

He finished second at the state meet in one of the fastest times ever on the course, and people are like, "What happened to him?" These are high school kids, not robots. They aren't going to run "perfectly" every meet. Plus, it's cross country. Time doesn't mean much. He got second for the second year in a row. Let's not make it seem like he got like 50th place or something, for f's sake.

their team won and will be in Portland. Second place in this race is no problem at all

so why was second a problem in THIS race??

Brandon Seymoor needs to realize he is not at the young or sahlmans level. He should go out a bit easier and have something left at the end.

Dang. I'm from California and hadn't quite realized how much of this is a road race. I guess you do what you have to, if you're going to have a course that can accommodate a large field, but sheesh.

The asphalt section of the course is a little less than a quarter mile and they do it twice, honestly that's not a ridiculous amount. If it was more than a mile I think there'd be reason to complain.
