The Turkey Trot Fresno is on Thursday November 24, 2022. It includes the following events: 5k Run/Walk, 2 Mile Walk (not timed), and Virtual Run - Turkey Trot.
It appears the course was short, that should be known. His GPS read 3.07, and we all know that certified courses typically read long on the GPS, like 3.14.
I wouldn't read too much into a 5k road race anyway, doesn't really mean anything for the marathon. It was just a good hard effort to sharpen up a bit and ready to attack at Valencia. Hopefully he can finally run a sub 2:10:00.
All good Strava Warriors know you gotta run thorough those short-course finish lines until the watch shows 3.12. (Because you know strava will steal that last 0.01 on file transfer. Lol)

Will he be the first runner to ever break 2:10 wearing Brooks shoes?
A mishap with booking flights turned into parkrun glory for Launceston parkrunner James Hansen, who broke the parkrun Australia record today in a time of 13:53. James was supposed to be at the National Cross Country Champions...

Pretty sure someone has already done that

I dunno...I'm gonna side with all the "haters". No doubting that CJ has some major talent but I think his approach to being a pro is absolutely crap...he goes out for the Strava kudos/IG likes/"look at how fast he ran a treadmill marathon" headlines before showing up for the races that actually matter and then can't follow up with any kind of results on the day.
Exhibit A: treadmill marathon in 2:09 just a few weeks before lining up for the Marathon Project event. He could have outright won the thing but he went in with having done a similar effort a matter of weeks before, leaving not enough time to truly rest and recover.
Exhibit B: 2:12 marathon in Modesto less than three weeks before running Boston. Not enough time to recover, could have been top American on Boylston St.
Exhibit C: Stupid tactics of "trying to run the race the same way Yuki did in 2018" at Boston. Different days 2018 vs 2022. No way the same tactic was going to work by a runner not already able to outright win the race. Yuki won because of the conditions. CJ's result is what would have happened had half the Elite field not dropped out due to the weather.
Summation: talented runner but if he isn't going to keep the focus on the race that matters give the starting line spot to someone who will.
PS...I'm well aware that he set the 50k world record. Again, I'm not dissing his talent, but am completely over wasting any attention or interest in him.

I disagree. CJ actually raced Boston the last two years. He didn't pace it hoping to pick off the carnage after the Newton Hills to finish as Top American.

It seems you've paid more attention to him than any other poster in this thread.
Garrett Heath showed up 2 years in a row to my Turkey Trot in Western Wisconsin in 2016/17. The first year, he ran a 23:17 lmao! Though, I remember hearing from a few of my friends that the course was 150ish meters short. We were cooling down with him for about 10 minutes before we pieced it together that it was him. Such a humble, great guy!
