It's not that hard. Go from Point A to Point B as fast as possible. I've seen 8 year olds running youth cross country run tangents better than she did.

No one else understands that either. Her coach simply didn't adequately prepare her, even though she had a shot at a national championship. It's very surprising.
She doesn't need to learn tangents, basic common sense should be enough.

Sorry running tangents would not have made a difference in this race. Touhy was just too powerful and strong compared to Valby. It was very obvious from the footage- Valby’s legs were buckling while Tuohy just plowed through like a racehorse charging to the finish.
