What I mean is that she is already on an Adidas sponsored team and she already has the Adidas logo on her clothes. So what more does Adidas get out of this while she's in college that Adidas isn't already getting?
So what is going to be the difference between a shoe deal and NIL? The ability to pay directly for performance? Feels like you can get around that. Getting paid 10k for an Instagram post saying "Recovery in my addidas after winning nationals" would be legal right?
She will be given the same perks as the pros while in college, pros receive money, and newest adidas gears and shoes to promote.
This is basically making her the brand's Ambassador, by this deal they can use her image for adidas promotions and commercials etc. and thats with PAY!!

Based on how NIL is being used in college football, apparently sponsors can pay athletes money for pretty much any reason they want as long as they don't break any NIL rules which are pretty broad.

yea, anything from a post, promotional photos for the brand, commercials, events and more, she will get paid

It seems like there isn’t much difference between going pro and getting an NIL deal.

They don't pay for her for winning a race but who know's !!? She's now their brand ambassador and if Adidas is kind, I'm sure she gets bonus, only she knows!
Of course they can. If Touhy breaks the 5k college record then Adidas can give her extra money to promote their new shoe, and say the money is for the new shoe promo and not for her record breaking performance.
As long as Adidas doesn't say publically it's pay for performance then technically no rules are broken. NIL has lots of loopholes.

The difference is she gets to stay in college and she's probably expected to do a bit more of the social media stuff that you mention. But it seems more like a placeholder deal with adidas to ensure she does sign with them when she goes pro. This is what NIL deals should be. Extra financial support for a proven champion while she finishes school and competes with her teammates. Good for Katelyn and adidas.

True, this is going to be hard for OAC and Nike to sign Katelyn!
Tuohy fans encouraging shade behavior. Not a good look. No they can't apy for performance. Saying they can as long as they don't publicly say it is like saying you can have an affair as long as you don't tell your wife.
