Fayetteville Manlius girls team not entered for NXR

Seems the spark has gone out at FM. Yes team is good and probably would qualify but overall things have not looked right at FM all year.

A team that absolutely will finish no worse than 3rd should be on the starting line for that race.

Bill Aris is probably declining to enter them as a punishment. He's the type.

Maybe another reason he decided not to take his team to NXR because he is getting really old and wants to have more of a break every now and then. I can see him retiring very soon. With sections done, (and state if they get there), he did his job

If he's going to run his team at an elite-only level and demand the kind of total lifestyle buy-in he does from his athletes, he can't in good conscience pull the plug after States just because his teams don't meet "his" standards. He has girls on that team who have never been to Nationals and might never get a better chance to qualify. These are high school kids, not professional or scholarship athletes.

If he's embarrassed about getting drubbed by Saratoga... the shoe was on the other foot a whole bunch of times, and I don't recall Saratoga ever not showing up.

What exactly did they do to deserve that?

Are those entries finalized? While it does seem like something Aris would do, it’s a little psycho even for him.

Please excuse the newbie-ness, but is there just the Nike national meet now? Or is there another Nationals for high school?

Why are you asking? You're making last minute plans to actually fly out to a meet?

As far as the finals go, the Nike meet is Saturday, Dec 3 and the Champs meet is Saturday, Dec 10, so you can fly to both!

There are some regional qualification meets this weekend for both Nike and Champs.

FYI, Nike is for both teams and individuals. Champs is only for individuals if that makes a difference to you.

Covid really hurt team and individual accountability. When you're running things the way Aris does, it involves total buy in. Covid killed that. I bet he is taking a year to get an early springboard into track and then build the machine back.

It would take fm soooo many years to build the machine back on the boys side.
Their 4th returner barely broke 20 in the 5K.

There are lots of 8th graders that ran for the fm middle school program this year but none of them look to be impactful next year. I wonder how many of them will actually join the hs team next year and stick with it in the future

They took 7th in the merge at the state meet but Sullivan was only their 5th runner

Outside of something on the order of a Covid outbreak, they have zero shot at qualifying. Saratoga and Bethlehem could leave their top two girls at home and still beat them pretty comfortably.

Sullivan has only one elite-level performance this season; it would be an upset if she were to qualify as an individual. I would predict that McGinn will be the only FM runner at NXN-NY.
