Hasn't Valby been running faster and winning by larger margins?
Yes, she has, but on different courses. Times and margins from one course can't be compared to time and margins on a different course. Only in track is that comparison somewhat valid.
If it’s rainy and course is wet, Tuohy all day. If it’s dry, the race comes down to final 800, and that’s drive time for Tuohy. I pick Tuohy by 6 seconds.
Valby has been crushing the field in insane course record times, so I predict she will win. Hills, cold, and wind make it less predictable, though. Touhy won't even finish.

1. Valby
2. Tuohy
3. Chelangat
4. Cook
5. Roe
6. McCabe
7. Olemomoi
8. Chmiel
9. Everlynn Kemboi
10. Mitchell
So of Tuohy won’t finish, why did you pick her to finish 2nd? You need to work on your trolling game.
Someone already mentioned it, Valby’s times and the fact that she has been crushing the field has no relevance to the meet on Saturday when she and the rest of the field are going to be running on the same course. Tuohy may not even be her biggest concern. McCabe and a few other will have something to say about it.
Valby's the One. Ran a close 5k with Tuohy at NCAAs (1.31 seconds) off of very little training. Ran the fastest 6k ever in NCAA XC. Jogged through the South Regional making hand signals to the crowd and leaving a former NCAA champion in the dust. Has a coach who was himself a world class distance runner. Has put fear into the hearts of Tuohy fans everywhere.
Unlikely as it may seem, I have some thoughts on this. But, I don't want to say anything outright. I'll just derail this entire thread with subtle accusations that have no basis in reality.

“Hand signals” 😂
Yet another person that doesn’t understand the significance of cross country times. Valby’s “fastest ever 6k ever in NCAA XC” will have no relevance in Saturday’s race.
Really enjoying following the women’s division this season, feels very competitive and interesting moreso than the men’s. To answer the question, I’m a Tuohy fan but one cannot discount Valby’s 2nd place 5,000m finish off of minimal training and her stellar fall XC season. I may have to give the edge slightly to Valby over Tuohy. Happy with either one winning, tho!

This is the 2nd time someone has mentioned “minimal training” leading up to the NCAA 5000. How is this known? What was the minimal training?
