I could have coached that Colts team, dead serious to a win vs a bad Raiders team.

Putting up winning seasons, winning the division, playoff games is what seperates the legedary coachs from all those you can't even remember.

Couldn’t agree more. Very few coaches even call plays both on offense or defense. The best ones hire quality coordinators, establish a culture and identify of winning, and let the players play.

Why should he feel guilty? He was a long time player at a very high level. It's not like he's Deno with absolutely zero knowledge of football trying to coach. Is he a football genius like some other mentioned in this thread? No. But he knows enough to be head coach as long as he has competent coordinators and assistant coaches.

To add to this, a lot of interim coaches win their first game and then lose a lot. Not necessarily because they are a bad coach, but any coach that gets fired mid season is on a terrible team. The Colts got lucky to play the hapless Raiders.

Anyways, Saturday should be a good coach. The center is the General of a team's offense. The QB gets all the credit, but the center has to read the defense in an instant and direct his blockers accordingly. He has all the tools to be a great coach.

It actually it proved a lot - because the narrative around the league - whether it be coaches, media etc, was that despite being a good guy and obviously well versed in the sport having played for 14 years, there was no way a "guy could walk in off the street with no experience in coaching" and be successful in the NFL.

"This one game" proved that it is in fact possible because they won the game. If the narrative was correct they would have lost comprehensively, which they didn't. It's actually this simple and you're a f-ing twit (shrugs shoulders)

What conclusion?

This is making me laugh. There is no mention of winning a superbowl or even ending the season with a winning record.

The narrative was a guy without coaching experience in the NFL could simply not be successful. But the most basic metric of success as a coach is winning a game which he did. It's really not more complicated than this.
