Every runner knows the day before a race they usually want to stay off their feet and not go out, in my opinion this is one of the worst and often overlooked parts of running that’s bad, especially if you’re a post college runner.
When I was running in college, most of my friends were my teammates, so if I had a race most likely they did too, so on a Friday night we would all just chill together and do nothing.
I’ve got to say, as a post collegiate runner, losing out on a Friday or Saturday night kinda stinks and can make for a very lonely feeling.
I’m not saying that the day before a race you have to just sit home and do nothing, but obviously if you want to compete at your best you don’t want to be on your feet too much the day before. Even if you don’t drink the day before the race, you can still screw things up for yourself by doing an activity that’s too active.
I find that Sunday races are the worst for this feeling, since you don’t want to go too crazy on Friday and then all day Saturday you don’t want to be too active so you basically miss out on the weekend.
Anyone else ever feel like this?
