Friday 15: NCAA XC regionals / DL final is same day as Oregon home football game + What to make of Lokedi not being drug tested

    On the bonus pod, it was expected to be all NCAA xc regional talk but we actually started with two other things.

    1) I can't believe the DL finale in Eugene is the same weekend as an Oregon home football game. Disappointing. Getting to Eugene is hard enough. I guess if you can get lodging, you now can see football and track if you can afford the tickets? It just seems that it 100% should have been on a weekend they didn't have a home football game. But I guess the problem with that is Oregon football schedule isn't set yet (only first 3 games) and you probably need the DL finale to be that weekend based on the dates of all the other meets.

    2) What do we make of Lokedi not being tested.

    To win a major marathon nowadays requires peds. These drugs are extremely powerful, so if you are not in a testing pool and you know you will not get tested, it is a huge advantage. The microdosing gives way to full dosibg. Every year it seems another obscure runner from Kenya or Ethiopia emerges to suddenly win a major.

    Of course they will. U of O is run by Nike, Nike runs USATF, they can determine the time for the game. So a 3:30pm pst kick off, though may go up against a 4ish start of the meet, does not take up lodging because football fans leave town after the game. Plus, I don’t think they are anticipating internationals traveling long distances for this two day, condensed meet. Maybe they can make the 5000m funky by running it around Autzen dodging tailgaters.
