Nearly fell out of my chair when they said Chuck Grassley is 89.
Is that a record in terms of age?
Iowans chime in on how out of it/ with it is this guy?

Chuck Geezer
"Fun Dip" Orrin Hatch knew when to hang it up. We'll see what becomes of Metamucil Chuck and Cocaine Mitch.

Just helped draft a bill to put an end to corporate bank ESG. Sounds pretty lucent to me.
This seems like a tongue in cheek post. Anybody who follows politics even a small amount knows who Chuck Grassley is and how long he has been around.

I don't think so. I believe Strom Thurman from South Carolina was older.

Didn’t Strom Thurmond serve until he was like 101?
Chuck “Food for Fuel” Grassley. Eff these fossils who just can’t ride off into the sunset at a normal retirement age.

No. Strom Thurmond.
The only certainties in life are death, taxes, and chuck grassley
He wakes up every morning and runs 2 miles. Better than I could do.
Vermont gets a 75 year old freshman

If you've ever been to Iowa, you'd know this is probably the most exciting thing to ever happen in Iowa in 89 years.

It must be the skin cream that gives him such a heavenly glow.
Wow, as you nearly fell out of your chair! As this is a running website, but as you nearly fell out of your chair about the politics and as you have posted it here! Wow!
Dianne Feinstein is a few months older than Chuck Grassley and it sounds like she may run for re-election in 2024
Word in Iowa is that Grassley will retire before his term which will allow the Governor to appoint his successor, which will be Chuck's grandson Pat Grassley who serves in the Iowa Legislature, then Pat will be able to run as an incumbent in 2028

Ya he has had a long career and stayed away from controversy. He has been a key part to a bunch of bills in a wide variety of topics, so he is pretty well rounded with his knowledge. Democrats will dislike him because he's Republican but I don't really think you can 'hate' the guy. At age 89 he is certainly questionably up there, but apparently his mind is still decently sound.
He's 89 but is still clearly mentally sharp and still physically fit. He runs 3 miles 4 times each week, and when he was 82 he ran a 3 mile race (the Capital Challenge) in 38:43.

and from what I hear he is the top runner on their team!
Heard on a podcast that he was born during FDR's first term, making him older than the New Deal. Pretty sad that the Dems couldn't defeat that dinosaur.
