Kevin Nybeck - 10 - Edina - was JV for xc last year and didn’t do track but probably played spring golf. Made state in XC without a team this year

Also 2 Ohe brothers who got the last 2 spots on Edina’s varsity but they play golf in the spring

Heard a story that Ryan Kleimenhagen placed 39th at state in XC. Never did track. Did tennis in the spring

Joey Hartnett - Millard West - varsity for XC all 4 years. Scoring this year. Baseball in spring

Eric Boettcher - Stevens Point 2022 grad - scored for varsity as a junior and senior. Did track freshman year (when he was JV for xc) / no spring 2020 sport sophomore year (Covid). Lacrosse junior and senior year.
Joe Schwartz - Middleton- lacrosse in the spring. Top 3 in XC both junior and senior year

Fall 2018 (9th grade) - scored for Edina XC but ended season early. Team won first state title in boys XC. Best freshman time in the state at some point

Fall 2019 (10th grade) - scored for Edina XC at state

Fall 2020 (11th grade) - Did not run because of an injury

spring 2021 - he won state in tennis in doubles and also as a team

graduated a year early too

2 homestead (wi) varsity guys play lacrosse. Both are seniors and are new to varsity XC.
Billy Hadcock and Robby Coburn. Hadcock did spring track in 2021 before switching to Lacrosse

Robert Gary did the opposite. He played soccer all four years at Evanston (IL) and never ran XC. Ran track only in HS and was a two-time Olympian.

Owatonna HS MN has kids like that too. Soccer or football in fall but solid track 1600 times in spring. This prevented the XC team from going to state this year. They used to make state every year until 2012.

The team had a good chance at state last year but got upset by Lakeville South

Interesting…what did he do in the spring? I only see track results for him for January and June.

maybe he played another spring sport and took those opportunities to run track races in the winter and summer?

What about senior Robert Freeman from Southlake Carroll?

He’s scoring for them last year and this year. But no spring track results at all. Does he do another sport?

Tommy Linder - rosemount 2013 grad - never did track in hs - played baseball instead. All conference for XC in 2012
Clayton Smith - rosemount 2015 grad - never did track - played lacrosse instead. All conference twice for xc. Raced at state with the team twice
All 3 raced at state with the team at least once in XC

New Jersey runners from 2015-2018 will remember Ramsey Little. 15:22 for 5k XC, 16:08 at Holmdel. Didn't always put it together in postseason, but was always a factor. Never ran a single season of track; he skied and played golf instead.

On a sidenote, he just finished 14 at the Northeast Regional this past weekend.

2011 Redwing, Mn Bryant Blahnik. Was rated #1 in Minnesota his senior cross season for a few weeks. Eventually ran track his junior and senior seasons, but played tennis before. Went on to run at Florida State and Missouri.

Red wing has had many varsity XC guys who have never done track.

Ben Tittle / Isaac Wyland (same class as Blahnik) were tennis players all throughout high school. But were on varsity XC runners as a junior / senior

Christian Leitner (3-year varsity XC runner) played tennis before switching to track

Marcus Warrington (2015 grad) was varsity XC all 4 years (scored at the state meet for the team junior and senior year). No track results. No signs of spring sports either.

Jordan Hassemer (varsity XC junior and senior year. 2012 grad). No signs of him doing track

Skylar Bennyhoff (2019 grad) - varsity XC all 4 hs years. No track results. Team made state 2016-2018. High team finishes in 2017 and 2018 (when it was all seniors ). Team fell down so hard in 2019.

Dru Milton - varsity for Milton GA as a junior and senior. Didn’t start track till junior spring (played baseball before). His senior his team was ranked top 10 in the nation at some point. He was top 5 on the team. At NXR SE his team blew it and finished 5th there
