What will Parker Valby and Natalie Cook do for an encore? How low will #1 Stanford and #1 NC State go? And can the Wisconsin men win Big 10 title #53? MB: It's 2022 NCAA XC conference weekend -what are you most looking forwar...
Seeing what Valby vs. Chelangat brings out of either of them. As well as seeing what Roe vs. Cook vs. McCabe vs a surprise Jepkurui is going to turn out to be like.
Midwest D3 cross country. The mix of kids hoping to one day qualify and compete at an Olympic trials with kids just fighting in the middle of the pack trying to beat a few more people and maybe get a pr. It’s just running and racing in a much purer form
Ditto. SECs should generate a solution to the Valby paradox. Will she drop the field--someone suggested she may pull a Kiptoo--and hold on for the win? Otherwise, if Chelangat can beat her, so can Olemomoi and Tyynismaa, imo. Can the Alabama trio score 20 in Stillwater? How good are Kentucky’s top two?
Will NAU’s XC season unfold like Alicia Monson’s track campaign this year? Got it all wrong at Worlds, got it all right in the DL. Looking for signs that Smith’s men are rounding into form ahead of a sharp peak at Nats.
Agree on most of this. And the same question for the OSU trio. But also equally or more important for both OSU and AL W teams is how far back their 4th and 5th will be. On Valby I posed the Kiptoo parallel for the championship, but does she try to run away from Chelangat here?

-SEC - Valby v Chelangat. Very interested to see what form Chelangat is in. She has not looked 100% this season. This race may say as much about Chelangat's fitness as Valby. Tyynismaa as well, she has been coming back from injury, is looking stronger and I hope she continues to improve.
-OK state - Mccabe/Cook/Roe/Jepkirui battle. Jepkirui has the top time on the Stillwater course this season, excited to see who wins.
-ACCs - Who is NC state going to run? For me that is the big question. Would like a better sense of who their healthy top 5 are. Will we see Shaw, Chmiel or Starliper? Is Touhy going to run another sit and kick like Nutty?
-Big Sky - Elise Stearns is having a breakout season. Look forward to seeing her and NAU women continue their momentum.

ACC M could yield some unexpected podium results.

Hoping to see a surprise runner for OSU who ran unattached at Weis-Crockett but was the 3rd OSU runner. She could be OSU #4 or 5 at conference. Cook, Roe, Jepkirui, Moss, Dawson. OSU has a lot more depth than anyone is even considering.

What about DI running/racing makes it less "pure" to you?

Thanks - 21:09 I see which was just about what Mahi ran as 5th in Jamboree (21:08). Not sure if something around 21:00 will be enough at Nationals for their 5th.

Mostly the money and the exclusivity. Very little 'redshirting.' You just ran for 4 years, did your best and graduated. No games with preserving eligibility for 5th/6th year. Nearly anybody who wanted on the team was welcome as long as they showed up every day and gave a solid effort.

I still don't understand how that makes the running/racing itself more pure. Maybe the culture and expectations are different between divisions, but surely you aren't saying that the races at DII and DI meets are somehow inferior to those at their DIII counterparts?

Ok, let’s have an intolerable semantics argument! Go ahead and think you won whatever fictional argument you think you’re having
