Hi everyone,
I'm just trying to work out what I should be targeting for my lactate threshold workouts.
Just to be specific, I am trying to understand Jack Daniel's definition (i.e. the pace that you could hold in a race situation for around an hour).
For me, this would fall somewhere in between my half marathon and 10k pace.
However, I also understand that since I'm not always in peak condition, therefore it is better to go by effort than sticking to a specific pace.
Now, it is quite hard for me to judge what the right sort of effort level is. I was wondering whether it would make sense to based the workout off a heart rate range?
So for the last two half marathons I've done, my heart rate averaged 177 and 179. I would guess that for a one hour race, my average heart rate would probably be around 180.
Would this be a reasonable heart rate to target in my tempo workouts?
