Shoes that big (anything over 40mm) are banned by World Athletics but not by Ironman. As a result, I've got not problem with it. What do you think?

Your thread title is nothing but clickbait.
There's nothing illegal about his shoes in this race.
Such a poor-taste attempt...
This post was removed.
If he was running in On shoes, he probably would have run 5 minutes faster with any other top racing shoe.
If it's not illegal for Iron Man then no need to even debate it. He may have had better gear for the run that was allowed...end of story.
My only thought would be...are these model of shoes available to all competitors? Is it a requirement that footwear used in the run be available to all competitors if they so choose?
Stupid thread.
Not illegal, and while the shoes are important, I assume whatever bike technology is used is more of a difference maker.
Triathlon is all about using the best tech. So this is not even close to being against the spirit of the law.
Cringe post. Gustav Iden mogs you to oblivion, Rojo.
You're not too stupid to realize that World Athletics rules don't apply here, right? Your current BAC might be illegal in one state yet under the limit in another. Hey, let's discuss whether the moon is made of cheese, Einstein!
According to this article apparently they traditionally followed World Athletics rules but at some point recently stopped and have a "working group" deciding what rules to have for shoes. They make it sound like not everyone was aware there were no limitations on the shoes (although to my knowledge, outside of prototypes, the Adidas Prime X and NB SuperComp Trainer are the only commercially available super shoes not approved by WA).
Different sport with different rules about equipment. Don’t try to make something out of nothing. The difference in what’s allowed in bikes compared to UCI is much greater than the difference in shoes versus WA.
Record marathon split you say? That phrase just screams "I wonder what the stack height was."
Well what was the marathon split? Also do we know what shoes these are exactly
2.36 something
More interestingly he says he ran 40k at race pace one week out...
Is that a lie or is he stupid or am I tapering all wrong
Such a stupid sport. A sport that penalizes you for putting your helmet and shoes on in the wrong order but doesn’t check shoes but they’ll check your bike. Didn’t even check for e-motors on bikes this year.
Breaking news: they also swim in wetsuits that are illegal under FINA rules.
True 38k on race pace +2k jog, look on his strava. Also do 100-150k on race pace on bike nearly everyday. They train with massive volume and big intensity. Hard to belive. But its funny that if they jog its really slow, like 6:30-7:00/km (Really!)
Iden actually races on an older Giant Trinity. However, he is super efficient aero wise and the tech end of things for the 🇳🇴is the monitoring they do of their blood glucose, core temp, lactate, etc.
There is a bunch of stuff that ironman does differently than the specific disciplines within it. Generally, they allow racers to push the boundaries of technology. In cycling, they have far more lax rules around the bike setup as compared to what can be used in pro cycling time trial setups. One example is that ironman allowed for extended aero handlebars before pro tours allowed it. These shoes are just the first time that any technology has come up in running. There just weren't any running items, gear, whatever that could possibly have been different than any other pro running circuit before.
Ironman marathon pace is different than marathon pace.
Seeing as he did nothing illegal and had to chase down a guy who got to draft the front moto the entire way on the bike why is this news
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
