Interesting article in the NY Times this weekend which explained how the Nike founder has had enough of the way Oregon politics is going. Initially he funded the independent candidate for governor in Oregon, traditionally a reliable liberal state. Now he has shifted his donations to the Republican candidate, as he'll do anything to defeat the Democrat.
Not too much on the reasoning but Knight did speak to the Times which said Knight was "frustrated with what he described as a lurch too far to the left in the state’s government"
One amazing quote from Phil:
"One of the political cartoons after our legislative session had a person snorting cocaine out of a mountain of white,” Mr. Knight said. “It said, ‘Which of these is illegal in Oregon?’ And the answer was the plastic straw.”
Plus this one: "Nike has good leadership. They make choices, whatever they want, but I think I’m more conservative than Nike.
Also interesting that it says the current governor Kate Brown (who I only know for helping fund the Worlds) is least the popular governor in the US according to polling
