How long are the vaporfly next% good for racing? I think Nike recommends something like 100 miles, but there's gotta be some bs in that number since theu just want us to buy more shoes, right? I've got about 110 miles of racing on a pair and thinking about adding another marathon in them. Anyone notice a real difference with the next% after 100 miles?

I think the problem is that the foam forms pockets in it where you put most of your weight, changing the profile of the inside so that it no longer functions the way it was designed. One very simple example of this might be that the "drop" of the shoe changes or becomes more of a sideways camber.
From what I have seen its those slow fat heel strikers that destroy the heel section of the next % .Seems Nike has addressed this problem on the version 3. My own pairs have all seen way more than 100 miles and are still as bouncy as when I first fell in love with them.

"Heel striking" gets a bad rap IMO. And I think deformation is going to be an issue with any foam.

I was wondering this. We have a few (very few) local slowish runners who wear them.
They'll show up to the race wearing them, warm up, race, and stand around after in them.
I wonder how much life is actually left in them.
One guy I know has been wearing them for over two years.
I did a half marathon with just 60 miles on mine and felt like I was bottoming out in the heel late in the race. Did a second marathon with ~80 miles on them and got the same sensation in the second half of the race. I occasionally use them for workouts now at 170 miles and they definitely have way less cushioning and spring than when new. My other super shoes have held up much better.

When you try a Nike shoe and return to the website, the shoe is shredded and used in playgrounds. It doesn't matter if you have put 10 minutes on the shoes or 10 hours.
I did about 100 miles of racing in my first pair. Then I got another pair for cheap, so I turned the first pair into trainers.
Have about 250 miles on them so far and they feel great, although I've worn through the rubber on the outside near the forefoot. (I supinate a bit). I'll probably keep going until they feel unbalanced or fall apart completely - they don't have as much pop as new, but they're still light and soft and feel good.
I’ve taken some to over 900ks and the heel always looked fine. The outsole also looks basically new. The ZoomX under your forefoot compresses a lot though.
I think it's fair that, for racing, < 100 miles seems about right. The shoes seem to lose a little pop at that point but I've been able to get ~300 miles out of a pair so when I'm done with a race pair it becomes my workout pair (& obviously not every workout). I notice the shoe still does well at its upper limit so racing with a pair with a good chunk of miles on it is still probably fine.
