If Nico breaks away in the last 1-2k that could work.
Although I do have to say that although Nico is probably my favorite NCAA runner, it does seem like he’s always 2nd or 3rd, never winning. He can beat anyone on the right day, but it seems like there might be a mental block to winning a race. Has he ever won a college race? At conference or the local home opener, Bosley always wins. Nico was second to Conner Mantz a few times. He’s incredibly consistent, just never number 1.
I think the 10k in Stillwater is his best chance to break away and win it. The course is to his advantage.
Jeez, here comes the idiot brigade with "mental block" sh1t. I see some dumb comments on this Board -- actually an avalanche of dumb comments -- but this is really up there. Congrats for that I guess.
An 8k at Nuttycombe is very different from a 10k on the OSU course. I don't think nationals will come down to a sprint finish.
This.

NCAA 5k he was the only guy who wasn't 24-26 in the top 3
But is he really wrong though? He's come in second at least 6 times in NCAA cross country, but never won a race. Is he too nice?
Please do not imply that gay people are too nice. He doesn’t have a great kick. He is not too nice. Many people are nice until the gun goes off.
How does him being gay have anything to do with it? He has a better kick than Bosley, but somehow every time they go 1-2 in a race Bosley is on top. Bosley cannot close a sub 13:30 in a 55.

This is true. I did count that as an honorary win when it happened. Nico was 19, beadlescomb and hacker were like 25/26.
I do not subscribe to the “too nice” notion that people are peddling here. I’ve known plenty of nice people who are absolute monsters in a race (in good way) and Nico appears to be one of them. Conner Mantz is also incredibly nice, but he races like his life is on the line.

Why is this place so obsessed with the age of NCAA athletes? Plenty of people don't go right from HS to college. I took 4 years to figure out what I wanted to be before going so I graduated as an undergrad at 25. Got my MBA in my 40s and could have run since I had eligibility.
You need to beat the people you race no matter their age.
