be interesting to see what he was capable of. I remember watching the derrick 5K and my jaw just dropping as he split something like 433/430/419 (plus the 200 at the end) without rabbits. Im pretty sure his last 3200 split was pretty close to what puskedra ran at the invite 3200 that same meet.
I think he will break 14, but I don’t think he will get the record. I’ll guess 13:58. On the other hand, it should be interesting to see what he runs during track season. He improved by 29 seconds in between seasons last year - what will that mean for this year?
I don’t see him running under 4:04 ( I don’t think the mile is what he’s interested in anyway) but considering he took a shot at the rarely-touched 10k record last year, I’m excited to see what he does in the 5k and 10k this coming track season.

even with low humidity, this is still very warm for the time of year, unless oregon regularly has this kind of weather right now. I think the temps could cost him.
maybe im speaking out of turn here. I don't think ive ever experienced dew points of around 40 degrees. this is another world than I know. temps probably not an issue in this case. seems this would be equivalent to 55-60 degrees where I live.
I think he'll just get it with 13:55.81. We see another legendary display of high school grit as he closes the final 800m in 1:55.32 and the final 400 in 55.47.

I really do not think the bulk of the folks could care less about this. HS only? Probably with multiple paces? No One else had those, they had to get their time even in Elite fields in races not set up specifically for them. They were just in races with better older guys.
