people underestimate how beneficial cross training is. i run very little mileage, maybe 25-30 a week. i run a 2.45 marathon. i do lots of football, cycling, swimming, hiking, the occasional triathlon etc. the marathon distance is mostly about your aerobic conditioning, which you can get from any cardio-based sports.
yes you will run faster still focusing only on running. but you can get a good marathon time without running a lot.
What do you do in that 25-30 mpw? Is like half of it at 2:45 marathon pace or below?
Yawn. If he breaks 220 on 50mpw or less then we can start talking talented. But if someone is talented and a craft comes naturally to them, give them credit because they've certainly been working for a while to acquire the talent to make it look easy.
