Hall finished his career before the super shoes era. With super shoes Ryan could have been a 58:00-58:50 runner. He was tailor made for the half marathon, with his flowing stride and running economy and good base as a 1316 5000 m runner without really focusing on the track. You could say the same thing about Dathan Ritz who has the best of around 1:00:00 but teleported to the super shoes era he would’ve also been in the same ballpark as Ryan. The caveat for the Illinois native was his propensity to become injured. His 12:56/5000 has to be one of the most monstrous performances ever set by a US runner.
If they moved to the US, they would be US record holders, Olympians…
Instead, we don’t know their names

Ritz is from Michigan brah. Don't insult him like that.
Think the point is not to knock Hall and Ritz, but to bemoan the lack of anyone else being that fast in the US.
That said, Grant Fisher should be able to go 58-something if he wanted to
No. The point is that there are great “unknown” runners simply because of their national affiliation. If the were Americans or Germans or Italians, they would be superstars. I saw that all 3 were still in front of Kipchoge at 21.45km, then the YouTube video stops.
Did any of them stay to 25km (which was a WR I believe)?
I saw another feed. Who was the rabbit who stayed to 25km. He was in front of Kipchoge when they crossed the 25km line. So technically he should be the new 25km WR holder.

Oops, my bad, and I stand corrected with apologies. He is a Rockford, Michigan, (Grand Rapids area) native, I think. Go Michigan! by the way what’s the deal or animosity with Illinois or is that just playful? Similar cultures and mindsets if I’m not mistaken. How about University of Michigan versus University of Illinois in different sports, what’s the skinny there? I’m thinking of football, basketball, baseball and track. Thank you.

No mention of the new 25km WR holder on first page of letsrun
I think there were three rabbits and I think the guy you’re referring to is called Koech, and there was another rabbit by the name of Kiplimo, and then there was the tall guy in the center with the black baseball cap whose name I forget with apologies. All those guys are monsters in their own right but Kipchoge is a surreal monster on a different level. He’s kind of like LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Allen Iverson all rolled into one…. All the tools in other words.

Comment from race announcer: “he’s done a “fine” job”
What if his name was David Smith?
Would the comment be a “fine job” for a 1:11:08 25km???
You sound like you are just looking for things to get upset about. Take a deep breath
Not upset…
Just observing
The comment should have been. Philemon Kiplimo, who is the 7th fastest half marathoner in history is now the new 25km WR holder. Breaking the old record by 10s and his pacing duties are now over. He did an incredible job.
I'm curious how fast those rabbits would have gone with 2007 asics hyperspeeds (what Hall wore). Those things literally had as much cushioning as a pair of socks. The fishnet outsole caught every pebble and your foot would get pierced in the perforations. I'm surprised they had two more iterations before they overhauled them.
