He's ageless, like a hobo stowed away in a Great Northern freight car out of St. Paul with nothing but a rubber poncho, a can of baked beans, and a harmonica.
Seriously, Blankenship won a US XC Championship on a 10,000 m course a few years ago. I would rather see him try 5,000 m or 10,000 m than the marathon.
Even in super shoes Ben is a 2:10 at best, but more likely 2:13.

Two years ago, Ben ran 28:08 10,000m. That's an 1120 on WA scoring tables. 1120 ~ 2:12-2:13 marathon. What is the likelihood that a 1500m runner several years past his prime runs an equivalent marathon? These comments aren't critical, they are realistic. My comment about his contract speaks to his lack of top level results recently, the end of his club OTC, and the fresh crop of young blood set to supplant him.
