I don't think this was a great result for Bekele time wise. The course is downhill to the tune of about 15 seconds and often wind aided. He went out in 61 flat pace for 10k and then ended up at 61 flat even though the second half of the course is the downhill portion.
I guess it's good just to see that he's healthy enough to run it and finish it. And i think it's good enough to go for a master WR. But that's not normally Bekele's mindset. If he's trying to go for the win, then he may need to run a similar effort to this the whole way in London.
Remember, Ritz ran 60:12 on this course in 2016 before dropping out of NYC in 2016 (admittely he led a lot of NYC in 2016 early).
Now if Bekele was going for a certain effor the whole way, then one could argue he did pretty good but i'd expected his 2nd half to be faster and for him to finish with Barega.
