Yikes. This is a guy who ran something like 13:06 this year. I hope his next race goes better.

Why does he need to run any faster in a race that doesn’t have a rabbit? He just raced to win and got a nice paycheck out of it. 10000 euros according to the website.

Not bad at all for a Newbury Park runner! Will he be their #2 this season or will Leo/Aaron catch up to Lex and put him back a place or two?

The funny thing about these guys who race to win is that they only win slow races with no real competition. It’s a fine excuse until they make it to the Olympics/Worlds and they clearly lack experience running fast, or against fast people.

Seemed to do pretty well finishing 6th in the world last year while numerous other bigger names finished behind him or got bounced in the semis/heats. This is his first race in Europe and he won. Let’s see how he does with better competition.

You read the website wrong. It was €10,000 euros for the top Finnish athlete over a 6 race series from all event types. For foreigners in the 5k, it was €500 to win.

The British guy who came second, close behind, has not raced much this year but has run 13:33 and 7:54. His PR’s are 3:41, 3:57, 7:51 and 13:33.
