good job
good job
That looked so easy, at no point did he look strained at all. 56.3, 1:54.1, 2:51.7, and 41.0. Never even really changed gears, just glided away from the field. Looked pretty wet out there as well.
As someone else has written: really astonishing how many thread starters are not able to write his name correctly in the title.
He made the race look like he completely controlled it to the point that no one was even willing to put pressure on him (or perhaps was incapable of putting any). Running from the front seems like a good plan for him as long as the pace is not crazy at the start.
Don't recall ever seeing someone dispatch top elites so easily in a championship race
2019 world champs Tim Cheruiyot. Makhloufi 2012 Olympics. After that probably gotta go back to El G and Morceli in the 90s.
That race had all the drama of ... of .... of ... nothing. Total snoozefest. JI sends the field home devastated.
jakob exemplifies strength running, already a case for GOAT strength-based 1500m runner if El G wasnt standing on top of that mountain. Next and final obstacle for a truly generational talent
Cheriyot, makhlofi won by two seconds??
Who cares?
The guy who won BRONZE had a 3:37 PB going into the final.
Many college fields are more impressive.
The whole MF in between someone’s name is really tiring . Its kinda ghetto.
Dont lower yourself to that level.
They are not, because no college field has anywhere close to someone at Ingebrigtsens level.
They announced in the stadium that the record was 3:35 from 1994 Euro's in Helsinki

Jakob MF Ingebrigtsen indeed. Bring on the 2023/2024 seasons.
Just to add:
Euros 2012:
Gold, 1500: Henrik Ingebrigtsen
Euros 2016:
Gold, 1500: Filip Ingebrigtsen

Euros 2022:
Gold, 1500: Jakob Ingebrigtsen
MF Ingebrigtsen.
Jakob is great but do you think he will ever set an outdoor world record?
Setting records is partly outside his control (if we imagine/pretend like he would get fast enough) as he need the right meet and a healthy McSweyn and maybe Timothy to help him. So who knows.
What we know is that he will regard it as a failure to not win gold in both the 1500 and the 5000 in the next three big internationals meets. And that is simply incredible. What a weight he has on his shoulders for the rest of his career.
The 5k world record is broken around the age of 23. JaKob is 21. He has 2-3 years to break it and you would be a fool to think a 3:28 guy couldn’t break the 5k record with his crazy endurance.
If by 3:37, you mean 3:30.20, then yes
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
