But he's head of the Ukrainian Olympic committee. He said Ukraine would win the war. How is meeting with Ukrainian athletes a political statement?

If he's not going to actually support Ukrainian athletes shouldn't he get a new job?

One would suspect an athlete of his status has been getting some oligarch-related supplementary income for some time now so is a bit compromised in that respect and has to tread carefully.
