Green did run a 10.08 but was actually a 10.2ish cat who simply hit a faster time than his norm, think.....Wilie McGee, Oliver Ford, Roscoe Cook, Willie Turner...all world record holders with an out of norm sprint.
Here he is at the NCAA
1982
(Provo, June 05; wind +1.9) ......................................................(A)
(34 contestants, 8 finalists; Q—10.30)
1. Stanley Floyd (Houston).................................... So ..............10.03
(MR)
2. Willie Gault (Tennessee) .................................... Jr................10.10
3. Mike Miller (Tennessee)..................................... Sr ...............10.11
4. Mark McNeil (Houston) ..................................... So ..............10.19
5. Darwin Cook (USC)........................................... Fr................10.21
6. Darrell Green (Texas A&I) .................................. Jr................10.27
7. Rod Richardson (Texas A&M)............................ So ..............10.37
… fs—
Calvin Smith (Alabama) ...................................
He loses to Tennessee footballers soon to be NFLers Willie Gault and Mike Miller (both PR's) as we can see......10.27. Not sure how Texas A&I is there, thought they were a D2 school, so...?
Green could run a 400, had a 46 something there, but if talking fastest NFLer it goes...
Forget Hines the guy did nothing.
1.Trindon Holliday LSU/Broncos 10.00
2.Jacoby Ford Clemson/Raiders 10.01
3.Jeff Demps Florida/Buc's 10.01
4.Bob Hayes Florida A&M/Cowboys 10.06....being this was ran on bad dirt some 50ish years ago, do think it is the superior time.
5.Ron Brown ASU/Rams 10.06
6.Alvis Whitted NCSt/Raiders 10.07
7.Anthony Schwartz Auburn/ Browns 10.07....HS time
8.Darrel Green Texas A&I/Redskins 10.08
9.Sam Graddy Tennessee/Broncos 10.09
Think that is it for sub 10.10
Ford/Brown/Whitted/Graddy all one time Raiders
Old 100 yards guys...
9.1 Bob Hayes, Willie McGee
9.2 Cliff Branch, Mel Gray, Frank Budd, Curtis Dickey
9.3 Henry Carr, JD Hill, Isacc Curtis, Ray Norton, Gerald Tinker, Larry Burton, John Roderick,Cecil Turner,
9.4 Homer Jones, O.J.Simpson, Mark Duper, Joe Delaney, Butch Woolfolk, Trenton Jackson
Have to mention little Buddy Young (5-4) he was a NCAA/AAU 100 Champ in the 40's.
Deion was a 10.26 just messing around with track, he was faster than that, same with a 10.39 for Bo Jackson he was faster than that. Walkers 10.23 is about right.
