Pot is so nothing, why it gets the play it does amazes me. It shouldn't be legal or illegal it's simply threre. Have never understood the big deal SINCE we are cool with alcohol and tobacco. Both of them far more dangerous than pot.
Everyone knows someone who got involved with weed and was never the same. Lack of motivation, cutting class, dropping out of sports, just being a total loser.
I will say that MY experience is that for some reason weed does seem to attract the loser crowd. Sure plenty of people have gone off the rails with alcohol, we all know someone that lost their $hit in college because they couldn't handle it, but.. the stereotype of the pothead exists for a reason.
Maybe because it's illegal it only attracts those willing to take the risk of breaking the law. Once it's legal it will be as common as stopping on the way home to buy a bottle of wine, or six pack.
It attracts people who get bored with a normal daily reality, but they aren’t intense enough to take up harder drugs. So they smoke every day and it makes eating, videos, music, life more “interesting”
Of course we know that it makes like 80% of them super dull and lame. I know very few people that smoke daily who are sharp and killing it (they do exist though, usually using it at night to sleep and not during the day)
and buying weed posters and shirts. and smoking all the time. and making social media posts about it.
That is a really excellent question. Marijuana is supposedly harmless, a drug that no one can be addicted to, yet it inspires people to center their entire lives around the next hit. Marijuana alone may not effect people as negatively as meth or fentanyl, but marijuana addicts are a drag on society. It makes them dull and silly, and more likely that others will have to take care of them.

and buying running shoes, and running all the time, and making social media posts about it.
If distance running isn't addictive, why can runners shut the f*ck up about it.
Distance running is addictive and no one said it wasn't. The increase in serotonin alone makes it a positive experience. But not many people are habitually late to work, lack motivation, dress in dirty clothes that are addicted to running. Quite the opposite. It actually takes motivation to go out and run 20 miles on your day off while all your buddies are drinking wine coolers and watching the Bengals.
I'm a huge weed head yet I do ok. Can it make you lazy? Yes. Not the end of the world. Software engineers live on this stuff. If you are trying to run well, probably don't ingest smoke into your lungs. Not that difficult.
My personal experience is that weed is much less addictive than other drugs, and I’ve tried several. It’s also less habit forming than alcohol for me.
I hit the vape before bed a few nights per week. I actually don’t enjoy it as much as alcohol, except that it helps me sleep. I have no urge to do it during the day and I never crave a hit.
We all know burnouts that smoke constantly, but I believe that to be a mental addiction rather than a physical one. Drinking all day is much more addictive and much worse for your overall health.
There are hugely successful people that devote entire rooms or floors of their homes to wine. They travel for wine tours, they collect vintage bottles. They have dedicated a good part of their life and their money to alcohol.

Just say no.

Sample selection at play. Nice call. One day we'll see the truth in the data. I suspect latter/last point will be true, but it's just my hypothesis for now.
