No love for the potato farmer? When everyone here has been saying he's done as a 1500m runner, he basically soloed a 3:30, wasting energy at the beginning by moving back to front, didn't give up when he was starting to fade and get passed by the field with 200m to go, and in fact put on a huge surge near the end to regain 1st place and only barely get knapped for 2nd. Best performance in that race.

Stonier ran 3:32.50 at 20 years old. British under 23 record, faster than Coe, Cram, Ovett, Kerr, Wightman etc.
His best last year was 3:39 and the year before 3:50.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen might have skewed expectations, but that's an extraordinary and hugely exciting progression.

an African with this progression and the forum would explode: doping since 12, age cheating...

No, that's a tremendous progression, but very logical for a young person of 20. Can't you even consider the possibility that the reason why this forum explodes when a 23 year old African runs close to the WR after being b-level for x years, or a Kenyan runs 1:43 in his first race, is because of 140+ doping busts, including apparently one of the three Kenyans in the Commonwealth Games 1500m that we are discussing?
Jake ran slightly wider between 400m and 1200m compared to Eugene and it looks to have cost him.
But Ollie ran absolutely perfectly and deserved to win. Tim also ran a very high quality race.
And a massive shout out to Sam Tanner on his best performance ever, when it mattered.
Incredible race. We've had two memorable 1500's in two weeks.
I worried for him on the final bend. He was in lane 2 but that helped him in the end. He finished in lane 3 and Cheruiyot had made a move (either deliberate or inadvertent due to tiredness) to block him just before the line but he couldn't get across.
Kerr with DFL is an awful result. He needs something to find his mojo again. This is where coaching comes in
Pal, you know FA, you've shown that already (no fast times cos "sub-par track" and "breezy"), just as you wouldn't have a friggin clue what Kerr's problem is, so accordingly, you wouldn't have a clue what he needs to do or what comes in or doesn't.

Well, I backed Hoare to win at 33/1 so I guess I know something. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

And if you want to be pedantic, I said no one would break 3:30 and... no one broke 3:30. Now, go have a lay down before that vein in your forehead bursts

There were only 2 Kenyans in the men's 1500m final. Which of those 2 is alleged to have tested positive? Haven't heard anything about either Kipsang or Cheruiyot!
