Holy cow, what a great finish in the women's 10,000 in the Commonwealth Games. McColgan and Cheptai side by side for 500m, just hammering away, and McColgan finally takes it with 75 to go. Unreal; they were flying.
Ditto. I'm old enough to have admired her mum and Elish just seems like one of the most likable people in the sport now. She had a rough Worlds so it's great seeing her win in the CGs.
Great race; only event I've seen so far where I've forgotten just how 'weak' the CWG athletics programme is in comparison to the World Champs.
God, I hate 'Flower of Scotland'. Petty, parochial dirge. it's okay as a singalong at an international cricket/football song, but as a 'national anthem'? Ugh.
By superb, the time must be well under 29:30, so what was it then.
:: crickets ::
She ran 30:48 for the win and the Kenyan Irine Cheptai ran 30:49. Cheptai did win the World Cross Country Championship in 2017 but she is certainly not the cream of the crop in Kenya now so this win for Eilish, while nice, is not really that surprising. The field overall was just OK.
