As I wrote previously, the Supreme Court decision was not the nail in the coffin for abortion. It simply means that states will be able to choose common sense restrictions that fit the beliefs of their populations. For many states, that will mean allowances for rape, incest, health of the mother and the first trimester (as those policies pretty much have sufficient popular support in most jurisdictions). The idea that abortions would completely be eliminated was simply a scare tactic employed by the left to garner votes as their disastrous policies wreak havoc on the economy and the lives of Americans.
The GOP shouldn't be counting their chickens just yet. If there is enough voter anger and concern for abortion rights in deeeeep red Kansas, then they may be massively misreading their chances in places like Florida, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, and Texas. Might be too late for those states to enact restrictive voting hassles aimed at women.

In the USA, according to many polls, women tend to be more pro-life than men. So why do you think the GOP would try "to enact restrictive voting {measures} aimed at women?"
… There's colors on the street Red, white and blue People shufflin' their feet People sleepin' in their shoes But there's a warnin' sign on the road ahead There's a lot of people sayin' we'd be better off dead Don't feel like Satan, but I am to them So I try to forget it any way I can … Keep on rockin' in the free world Keep on rockin' in the free world Keep on rockin' in the free world Keep on rockin' in the free world … I see a woman in the night With a baby in her hand There's an old street light (near a garbage can) Near a garbage can (near a garbage can) And now she put the kid away and she's gone to get a hit She hates her life and what she's done to it There's one more kid that'll never go to school Never get to fall in love, never get to be cool … Keep on rockin' in the free world Keep on rockin' in the free world Keep on rockin' in the free world Keep on rockin' in the free world … We got a thousand points of light For the homeless man We got a kinder, gentler machine gun hand We got department stores and toilet paper Got Styrofoam boxes for the ozone layer Got a man of the people, says keep hope alive Got fuel to burn, got roads to drive … Keep on rockin' in the free world Keep on rockin' in the free world Keep on rockin' in the free world Keep on rockin' in the free world

Everything joedirt wrote is factual and accurate. A big problem has been that some states have very old laws on the books (Michigan) that pre-dated Prohibition and are highly problematic and may not be representative of where that state stands now.
again a topic most of europe is superior. aborting (killing) a baby after 9 month just before it arrives is just as crazy as is banning abortion. pro choice does not mean there has to be a unlimited range of choices.
Right, the Supreme Court decision means abortion is not federally protected and states may choose.
What this means for the midterms, is that the candidate who campaigns to protect abortion rights in their locality will have an advantage over any candidate who doesn’t.
Ruby red Kansas voted to protect abortion rights. What’s going to happen in swing states and swing districts if abortion rights appear to be in danger?
Look at this ad against Governor Greg Abbott of Texas.

Wrong.
While it is a pro-choice victory -- which I applaud -- that just shows that taken alone, it's not winning Repub issue
Look at Kansas' stance on vaccine "mandates" -- very against -- to see what might happen next...
Parents & others who prioritize open schools, no mandates will vote that way-- they're still My Body My Choice but their kids and ethics come first.
No one thinks Kansas will be electing Democrat senators over this. But other middle of the road Republican seats may get flipped over this.
Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Ohio all have Republican senate seats up for election this year and this issue could be a big factor.

Joedirt nailed it, down votes are by leftists who are watching their vote garnering cash cow diminish in importance.
Joedirt didn’t quite nail it because some states immediately implemented severe restrictions formerly protected by Roe. Right now there are women scrambling to access something that they could do easier a few months ago.
And there are many politicians that do want complete bans. The people are not protected any more and now have to vote against those politicians.

No one in favor of access to abortion argues your first premise. No one.

But, but, but ... CNN told me that the mean ol' Supreme Court BANNED abortion last month. How can it be that states are deciding for themselves whether or not abortion is legal? That can't be! That would mean the SCOTUS did NOT ban abortion and instead simply transferred the right to decide to the individual states. Some media outlets obviously lied to the American people to stir the pot. Makes sense, I guess, with an election only three months away.

r the same ruby red Kansas that has a democrat for a governor? You should probably take a break from posting.
let’s not forget all the outside money that came pouring into Kansas to keep the baby killers happy.
That's just a thing you have to accept in modern politics, or else you have to advocate against it specifically. "Local" politics barely exist anymore, it's all pretty much national now, but especially so as far as where the funding comes from. Democrats whined about "outside money" in San Francisco recently when the super-woke DA was recalled. Basically, everyone who loses a vote complains about "outside money." Since everyone seems to agree that "outside money" sucks, maybe it could be a bipartisan campaign to restrict $$$$$ in politics. Just kidding, obviously, nobody actually wants that, because approximately half the time their side wins with the help of outside money.
The reactionary Roe decision and bum rush by right wing politicians to ban abortion in red states exposed the authoritarian impulse toward cruelty. As they always do, the right wingers pushed too far and now will come the reaction of the vast majority of citizens.
The right wingers were poised to cruise to a congressional takeover of both house and senate. It looks now as though the Senate democratic majority will GROW by at least a couple of seats. We'll see about the house, but this vote in Kansas exposes a huge swell of voters who are about to b-tch slap the rethuglicans for their overreach.
ALWAYS REMEMBER that rethuglican cruelty is not a bug but a principle feature.
I love that Kansans got to vote on this. I love that the Supreme Court sent this major life, nonhuman object, or death decision back to the people. It humors me to see the headlines and story that mainstream media pushes to basically say, “See this! Proof that the vast majority want abortion available until moment of birth.”
Best case scenario happened here for the overwhelming majority of Americans that are moderate. The conservative legislature will now just limit abortion in some way instead of all the way. Likely a heartbeat bill or 12 weeks. Which is really what the vast majority of non-extreme people want and would accept. This needed to happen and thankfully the Supreme Court wisely decided to let the nation find its way there instead of dictating unpopular law from a branch that isn’t supposed to do that job.
2nd amendment keeps bearing arms from being outlawed but it has been ruled that some limits are acceptable. The vast majority are cool with that approach. Even though Kansas Supreme Court ruled that abortion is protected as a constitutional right does not mean that some limits cannot be placed on it. Good on the people of Kansas.
