Shalane showed her colors in recent years by the way she supported a drug cheat and the disrespect she showed GDS both when GDS was in the group and after she left.

I was a huge fan of Shalane for so many years. But it appears she is shady as all get out.

Honestly this move is really shady. It just seems like Nike is making this sudden change to shield Jerry, Shalane and BTC from something.

Now Oregon is on Shelby watch. When will Shelby get a role at the school, and how on earth will that be fair for college kids to have to work with a drug cheat or the coaches of a drug cheat. Ugh.

Is it permissible to have a full time coaching job like this, and coach on the side? I know Mike Smith coaches/ed Galen but managing two teams is different than just an extra athlete here or there.

According to the stride report, the oregon roster for 22-23 only has her and jerry listed as coaches. Still really early on so it doesn’t mean anything but I guess it’s possible then that Thomas is out?

I have thought all along that the end of Q2 and end of school year planning together made a good stopping point for BTC funding. However, I think Nike valued Jerry's standing up to the media and Shalane right there on his side. This Oregon placement is a consolation prize for that. They are both lifers now, accepted to the inner circle.

Who is coaching the Burrito Track Club now? With Schumacher and Flanagan gone, that leaves just assistant coach Pascal Dobert. Are they going to try to pull in a renowned college coach or just turn the program over to him? And how is the program going to survive without all of Shalane's burrito recipes from her cookbooks?

seemed to me from interviews of the BTC athletes at Worlds that they were going to be relocating to Eugene, and they had the safe answer that Jerry would be coaching both the Ducks and BTC and the assistants positions were up in the air at the time; Doing both going to be easier said then done, but maybe Jerry sees the writing on the wall with BTC long-term, since it isn't like the new college grads were beating down his door recently!

I also think that BTC is largely self sufficient at this point. Jerry writes the workouts, but somebody else can hold the stopwatch. I read that he doesn't stay with them at altitude, but just flies in for a few of the key workouts. Some of those BTC guys have been with him for more than a decade now so im sure they know the drill.
