Seen them all since th Rams Fearsome Foursome, without question the best defense for one seaon I ever saw was those 85 Bears. A far as having a great defense for awhile that would be those 70's Steeler teams. The Ravens could play some D later on.
How about this D
Reggie White, Aaron Donald, Bruce Smith
Lawrence Taylor, Dick Butkus, Ray Lewis, Derrick Thomas
Deion Sanders, Rod Woodson, Ronnie Lott, Mel Blount
Wilson is an all time great already, Hall of Fame bound.
There is something just not working early on in Denver, might take a season to fix the problem. Am curious if he's been 100% healthy and not wanting to use excuses.
That offense is bad no matter who is the QB, not one "star" player anywhere.
Russell Wilson is historicaly great his numbers prove that fact.
Anytime a QB with the abilities of Russell Wilson struggles like he is currenty doing something is broke and needs fixing. The guy is simply too good for this, something ain't right.
Didn't know about his injury wondering how serious that really is. He did throw a pass that simply died which isn't Russell Wilson.
What was your take on Wilson before this season?
Yes if he doesn't fix this in the next couple seasons, then his best days are over,
There is nothing in his game suggesting he has lost anything, I see keeping on with what he has been doing but will miss Lockett. Maybe losing a step at 38ish.
wow.....this didn't age well at all.
10 for 10 in the first half then sometime went bad after half. Now hearing about an injury, that would explain things.
Do expect by the end of this season we will be seeing the same old Russell Wilson.
Wilson is simply too good to be having what he is, now we see his...
Following the Denver Broncos' collapse at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football, word leaked out of Dove Valley that Russell Wilson's shoulder injury was worse than the initial perception. Wilson has a torn lat in his throwing shoulder, which is highly concerning for his remaining 2022 outlook. Outside of taking a few weeks off — which the 2-3 Broncos can't really afford — Wilson is going to have to play this season at less than 100%. However, that's not to say that remedies, or treatments, aren't available to Wilson. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported that Wilson received some platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections in his injured shoulder. The reporting duo also provided some additional context to the lat injury.
I knew something just wasn't right, well there it is.......play at less than 100% this season.....now add a hamstring problem.

you could say things......ain't great.
For a guy like Russell Wilson to have the problems he's had something must be wrong. Now we find out he has a torn something in his throwing shoulder, that would do it.

Deno you simply are not very bright. You were raving about Russell starting the game 10/10 and how he just needs time to adapt to his new team and now you are telling us he is injured and cannot play. Which is it? Even if he is injured that is more likely to happen to a dual threat QB as he ages. Some of us saw that this trade and hefty contract were a disaster in the making for Denver. You did not see it. Own your failure for once. Maybe you can learn to see that you don’t know football the way you think you do.

Dude, not very bright is failing to register and thinking we know anything this early in a season.
BUT.....it appears that shoulder injury is more serious than they thought now it's.....unable to play 100%........which does explain how a guy with his abiity would all of a sudden falter.
Dude, historian here who starts in 1920, when do you figure that out? Won't be learning anything here, trust me.
Steelers definitely had some great defenses during that era, but there is a real dividing at 1978, when rules changes made things much more friendly for the offense.
First off, your username is not lost on me. Witty! Dan wishes those rules were in effect when he played. And Earl struggled against the Steelers over his career, which is something that was highly unusual for that beast. In the '80 championship game Earl had 15 yards on 17 carries. He did have 80 at halftime once before getting spun around and Shell broke his ribs.
Your point is valid and taken, but remember the main reason for the rules changes. The Steelers winning so many games 17-6, 24-13, 14-0.... The NFL thought they needed more offense and less defense to attract and hold more low attention span fans.
The no touching a receiver downfield was called the Mel Blount rule. The liberalization of O-line being allowed to extend their arms and basically hold used "that's the only way you can keep Joe Greene off of the QB" comment at league meetings to discuss the matter.
Again, I am NOT saying the '76 Steelers was the best defense of all time. I am saying that you can discuss and compare a handful of great defenses over history without coming to a definitive consensus as Deno was implying. As though his thoughts and words were the only ones with merit.
12 yards on 7 carries! I saw that game. Chicago D, 5 interceptions of Y.A.'s passes. Larry Morris returned 1 for 61 yds. ( no TD ). He also sacked Tittle in the 1st half and temporarily knocked him out of the game.
What year we talking here, 62?
1963 NFL Championship game, the only televised game anyone living in CA could have watched. They played a regular season game in 1962 which the Giants won and Galimore, if he played, had no carries or receptions. Also in 62 and 63 Ronnie Bull ( R-O-Y 62 ) and Joe Marconi ( Pro Bowl 63 ) were the leading RBs for the Bears.
