I don’t understand why they dragged worlds out for a week and a half. Feels like this could be a three or four day meet at most. Every state track meet is two days so to drag this on for 10 is insanity.

What type of track and field fan are you that want fewer days of track and field. No thx. I want the athletes to be able to double, and to not outshine each other.
Since 1983 it has always been held over 2 weekends. Would Sunday through Saturday work for you or is that too long?
That would be better but I honestly think four days oil’s been enough. I really don’t care what they started doing 39 years ago in 1983. We are living in 2022 and that is what I care about and in this day and age few have the time and patience to stretch this for 1/3 of a month.

I’m really not a huge track fan but when I watch I want to see as much action in a day as possible and not stretch it out forever.

I see both sides of this. On one hand, most people can’t afford to spend $500/night for 9-10 nights for a hotel, plus car rental, the cost of tickets each night, time off from work, etc. Because of work responsibilities, I was only able to be there a few days, and I wish I would have been able to see more finals.
On the other hand, having only two or three finals per night makes them feel more special. Each final feels like a main event that the action that day has been building toward. They were so exciting! Plus with the heats, it’s still possible to see most of the athletes one would want to see in just a few days.
I've got the solution, this will cut down all those extra days wasted on prelims. Make a 100 lane track so there are no heats. Just have one big race instead of dozens of heats.

Now we are talking. Probably get some really good roller derby contact if you do this too.
If you are a T&F geek like most on this site, 10 days for the WCs is great. If you have any interest in this sport gaining popularity, then the meet should be compressed somehow and the marquee events not scattered about. Yes, there are real problems with this, I realize, like even less opportunity for the best athletes to double, and yes, there is the tradition of how the competition is organized, but one weekend of all finals would be fantastic for the general public. Could we have one weekend of heats/prelims, and then the next of just final after final? I think viewership would greatly improve.
