Less than 2 seconds off the lead. She won't be happy with it. But not bad for being nowhere near peak form.
There is no bigger Hassan fan but it just goes to show that preparation is more important than talent. When she is in top shape, they would not be passing her. Hopefully, this will motivate her to put in the work next year.

Hopefully this will motivate her (and her coach) to TONE IT DOWN A NOTCH!! Isn't she paying the price for a too-epic 2021?
This post race quote tonight makes you realize what a BOSS she is…
”I did my best and I gave everything. I did the race smart, did not make any mistake. For me, it is important if I give everything and race smart and it does not matter what the position is.”
always a big fan of watching her race -- the way she guts out races and puts herself in it is awe inspiring. She almost killed herself in Tokyo going after that 10k win, but her natural competitive drive is insane. Obviously super talent and I'm excited to see her come back from everything last year, but unfortunately the preparation wasn't quite there. She had a very interesting quote in one of her interviews where she explained that although this year may be a bust, taking these extended breaks + having training downtime is much more important for the longevity of her career rather than going 100% all the time. She'll be back!
Two weeks ago everyone was calling her fat and saying she was struggling to run mid-15 and might pull out completely. What she did at these championships, staying in the mix and going for it, was so much better than anyone expected. She’s super tough and strong willed. The training wasn’t there at all but she still almost pulled things off.

So the other runners in the race did not do their best and give everything? She was the only one?
Her herky-jerky running style looks like it would hurt like hell at race finish intensity. I guess she's used to it, It would injure me in a hurry. probably herniate discs and pull hip flexors and rip the achilles tendon, I guess it pays to be light?

You must be really STUPID if that is your takeaway.
Hassan gives 110% compared to other elites only putting out 100%?
Percentages are like fractions, parts of the whole. You can’t have more than 100 percent of a finite capacity. If you give something everything you’ve got, that’s 100% you’ve given.

I’ve heard countless sports commentators say someone was giving 110%, but you’re telling me it was all lies?
All elite runners are tough and Hassan running a slow tempo in a 5000m before the WC doesn’t mean she’s tougher than anyone else.
