Charlie had COVID, so not much she could do there.
What's shocking is NB/AA seemed to send most of their athletes to either St. Mortiz or Seattle to prep for worlds - neither of which would've been great prep for the temps and conditions in Eugene. Man consistently finds a way to get it wrong. But hey - as long as they're in the Diamond League coming DFL and paying him to stay in Teddington
But BTC couldn't medal because they have so little experience with actual racing. It's like the difference between being book smart and street smart. Jakob is both.
When I first saw Hoare at the Champs, I thought he looked fried. Dark patches under his eyes, tired looking. It felt a little judgmental to say that, but I definitely felt like he looked off. I looked at older photos of him, and maybe that's just his complexion, but I had the same initial impression as you. But I'm a big fan; was bummed he didn't do better.
I mean, he is Australian. Rumor has it he was BAC >0.10 the entire meet. Stumbling around the athletes' village in jorts, listening to Cold Chisel at all hours, grilling snags, and skulling XXXX the entire day before his semi. No wonder the results were bad.

Please suggest a better preparatory environment for Eugene than Seattle.

Somewhere that’s actually hot. Like anywhere on the west coast except Seattle.
Funny how during the DL everyone on here was praising Ritz and OAC for racing as much as they do, while slagging Jerry and BTC for “ducking competition”.
At each and every major champs, BTC peak at the right time.
and the less said about Bideau the better. He’s over raced his only genuine talent (Stewy) like he did Ryan Gregson.

I saw Grant Fisher's interview after the 5000 and now I feel bad I criticized. He seemed so down. He said they are all used to the jostling, they weren't that close together.
He tried his best! I hope none of these people read the boards. Ollie on his podcast seemed down too. Hope he can self-soothe with chicken nuggets and Mountain Dew.
