Fisher gets 4th place in the 10000 on a hot day. East Africans barely beat out Fisher.
They dont look like anything special anymore.

Are the standards really so low that an American not me falling is now “East Africans aren’t all that”? Kinda sad
Medalling oops
And yet no American visits the podium.
funny post, wait until the rest of Africa (countries) get the opportunities to compete, and complete domination in the distance events
East Africans won every medal, just as they did at the Olympics
What? Dork. Its about the nonsense some speak about that East Africa so much better than the US in the 10000. Clearly not when they win by the skin of their teeth. Barely held of Mr Fisher.
So repeat after me. East Africa aint all that.
I'm really not impressed. Fraction of a second from losing that.
East Africans really really good, so is Fisher. Surprised some did not rip a 60 sec 400 with 3 laos to go rather than a 64.5. Likely would have put the field single file. Easier said than done
"Mr Fisher" has a PB of 26:33, which is the WL. Were the East Africans supposed to beat him by 10 seconds or something?

They currently do have the opportunity. But nobody from 'the rest of Africa' (not East) has the standard to enter the race in question. 'complete domination in the distance events' already takes place. East Africans do it.
What would happen if Carribean countries were allowed to compete? They are heavily populated by people whose ancestors and genetics are from an area included in 'the rest of Africa'. The reason they don't have 'the opportunity to compete' is that those nations have 0 people able to qualify for the Men's 10000m.
Someone said the East Africans would be nothing without EPO. Grant Fisher is still the world leader with his 26.33 and more than 10 seconds faster than fastest times posted by East Africans this year. Can you tell me what Fisher is on? I bet whatever he is on is even better than EPO, right?
Yeah, East Africa only went 1-2-3-5-7-8, with East African born athletes in 6 & 9. Clearly they’re no better than any other region.
The East Africans are faster because they weigh less, and they weigh less because they have outsized incentives to do so. 100k is generational wealth in Uganda, in the US it's a work from home IT job. Options matter.
Fisher ran well for fourth. The east africans got the medals. Mburu at 22 years of age has a PB 40 seconds +/- slower than Fisher. Clearly Mburu is a lot faster than his PR and the reason is opportunities. He just may not have had many chances to run in fast races yet.
A young east african may emerge from poverty and make it in track. Hundreds of others with the potential to be top runners in the world don't. I wouldn't say that east african runners aren't so good. They are great and have been for decades.
Someone made this exact post, to the word, when Galen Rupp won silver in London 2012.

After Nike put the Kenyan trials in America which eliminated a lot of competition and prevented Kenya from sending their best team.
Political play to the max. No surprise from Nike.

Count the top 10? top 20? top 100? 10000m times over the last 1? 5? 10 years? Count the east africans and east african transplants.
