Agreed. The Allen blovers should quit crying. Everyone has the same rule.
If it was as simple as that, I wouldn’t disagree, but I’m not sure he actually false started; and now, if it’s discovered later there was actually a sensor issue, Allen has no remedy. He should have been permitted to race and then DQed after a full review if appropriate.
I don’t know how you’ll prove the sensor is off. Was the runner from the Bahamas in the same lane?
I'm sick....to watch someone like Allen have his Dreams taken away unfairly!
This is great. We have a crossover mainstream athlete in Devin Allen and now track and field makes itself look like an even bigger joke quibbling over literally nothing. No advantage.
Should be a grace period in the rule - something like between .08-.1 - where the race is stopped but no one is disqualified. Continue to DQ clear anticipation, but if it’s close, just reset the race.
I also have big problems with the theory people can’t react under .1. It’s well documented that the subconscious reaction can be hypothetically a bit under .1. For example, if a person is truly *startled* by the gun, it can hypothetically be as fast as the .08 range.
This .1 DQ sht is a joke. All day. Who determined that is the reaction speed limit? 3 DQs today it is completely arbitrary.
Who comes up with these stupid rules and what’s the benefit? It’s not a false start!! No benefit to the sport or the athletes or to people who want to enjoy watching the best in the world all compete. Some Bs rule made up by old men.
