That was ridiculous. If you have to show commercials mid race, why not pick like 8 mins in and then 16 mins in? Switching and coming back with a couple of laps left is like watching a completely different race
This. If you have Xfinity you probably have this for free. I don't even have cable just internet and this comes with it. They showed it uninterrupted. The audio is for a different coverage apparently because they would interject to cover a hammer throw but the video never left the 10000m

^ Seriously, it's 2022- everyone should know how to watch events. Peacock is sometimes free or $4.99 a month. Track meets, the Tour de France, marathons, etc. typically have both a US feed and a world feed. If you watch the world feed, there's usually no commercials for any of the events.
The took a short commericial with 10 minutes left in race (1.5 minute commercial).
OK not too bad if you have too.
Then they went to a LONGER commercial with 3.5 minutes left in race. (2 minute commercial).
Our sport is not taken seriously as a sport.
If World Athletics doesn’t ditch NBC at the next possible moment they should be investigated. NBC is laughably bad. ESPN/ABC would be a million times better and would double the ratings for tonight’s 100m final with their shoulder programming and social reach.

Yep, watched it and hated when they went to commercial. Not happy! I have Peacock but by the time I would have switched over, they'd be back from commercial. Mix in a split screen people!
if you are a real fan of track and field, you should have peacock from May through september. $5 per month. no commercials on world feed. In a world short on good deals, this is a GREAT one.
if you don't care much for diamond league stuff, at least get it for the month that worlds or olympics are on.

In France, channel 4, was even worse because from lap 2 until the 22 minute mark there was nothing because they chose to focus on the hammer throw because they had a French guy competing in the hammer, so we missed completely what happened to the British runner McColgan. It was incredibly frustrating to miss the nuts and bolts of the race.

I've always said this and I have a post about it. I am just lazy to dig it out WEjo.
Here's what I said.
IF YOU WANT TO RUIN SOMETHING, GIVE IT TO THE AMERICANS.
Yup!
They'll NOT disappoint.
The Americans are buying football teams in the UK and the British fans are having it. I forget which race I was watching and NBC cut away from the race to interview an American athlete over something that had nothing to do with the race in question.
When the American media (sports channel) is broadcasting the Superbowl, they do it for an entire week. They also start early in the morning (pre game show) yet the game is not until 7 p.m.
When they are broadcasting the World cup, they move from a hot dog eating competition to the whistle and the game begins. You even have no idea what the line up is.
I am not surprised and I am not even furious. It's America just being America.
I can’t remember exactly but perhaps around 2000 to go? It was after Gidey took the pace and dropped it to 71s. It was pretty disappointing because it wasn’t a massive change in pace.
